District IV Campaign Announcements (2013)

  1. Happy and honored to announce that I was elected to the Board by a vote of 1,691 to 1,388 of the members in District IV. Thank you for your support!

  2. Many thanks to outgoing District IV Director, Larry Krannich, for his successful term on the Board and all the contributions he has made to our Society!

  3. The election closed on November 15th. The first official announcemenent is available at C&EN’s website.

  5. Georgia Tech’s College of Sciences just wrote a nice piece announcing my ACS Award for EDSCCS (9/16/13).

  7. On September 9, 2013, C&EN announced the 2014 ACS National Awards. I’m honored that I was selected for the ACS Award for Encouraging Disadvantaged Students into Careers in the Chemical Sciences (EDSCCS)

  8. At the ACS National Meeting on September 8-12... Follow me on twitter and come to the District IV Caucus on Sunday from 6:00PM to 7:00PM to see both candidates and hear where our district is going...

  9. On July 25-27, I served as a facilitator for the New Faculty Workshop (NFW) in Washington, DC aimed at mentoring newly-hired faculty members are Research I chemistry departments.

  10. On July 15-17, I served as a facilitator for the Future Faculty Workshop at Georgia Tech aimed at mentoring graduate students and postdocs in the broad areas of Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.

  11. During the week of July 8th, I co-organized the cCWCS workshop on Theoretical and Computational Chemistry at Westminster College. It is aimed at enabling faculty from primarily undergraduate institutions, and resonates with my priority on education of the chemical workforce.

  12. On June 25th, I delivered a Public Lecture at the TSRC Town Talk on “Advancing Science Through Diversity” in Telluride, CO.

  13. In June, I delivered a seminar in Spanish on “Los modelos son metáforas para los sistemas: Un estudio ilustrativo con las partículas de Jano” at the IX International Inderdiciplianary Scientific Research Congress (IX CIC) in Santo Domingo, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC.

  14. The ballots will be mailed out by the ACS on October 4th.

  15. C&EN will be publishing the candidate board statements on September 16. See mine here.

  16. The ACS has published an announcement of this year’s election for the ACS Board and President at the Election Website, including a link to one for my official candidate information.

  17. The campaign officially begins with a blog post on EveryWhereChemistry on May 9.
