  1. The 4th and final BOD meeting is taking place November 30th to December 2nd in Washington, DC.

  2. Happy to have hosted the Ice Cream Social at SERMACS 2017 held in Charlotte, NC. It was a hit as always!



  1. C&EN published (November 6th, Volume 95, pp. 18-20) the data collected by OXIDE on the URM demographics of faculty at leading chemistry departments according to federally funded chemistry research expenditure .

  7. My lecture on “Dynamical consistency in sustainable nanoparticles and advances in diversity equity“ in the ComSCI Symposium on “Transformative Research & Excellence in Education Award” — 2:05PM on Monday (August 21) Room 155 of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

  8. Headed to MARM 2017, in Hershey, PA, on June 4-6.

  9. The second Board Meeting of the year will take place on June 1-3 in Baltimore.

  16. We will hold the 1st OneChemistry Symposium on Chemistry’s Role in the Brain Initiative on March 28th.

  17. Great visit on March 25th to University of South Florida delivering the Castle Lecture and meeting with the leadership of the Tampa Bay Local Section. Great to see ACS members mentoring the next generation!

  18. I am honored and humbled to announce that the ACS Georgia Local Section selected me as the 2017 Herty Medalist. I will be presenting keynote seminars at the award banquet in Atlanta on September 7th and at HMURS on September 8th. (Click here for announcements at ACS GLS and Hopkins.) The inscription reads “for transforming our view of chemical dynamics in non-equilibrium environments, his creative approaches to improving diversity within the chemistry profession, and his leadership at the local and national levels of the American Chemical Society.”

  19. We held the 2nd Academic Leadership Training (ALT) workshop in Marvel Hall at ACS Headquarters on February 26-28.
